Jason Jewell

Jewell, Jason D

jjewell@dallasisd.org

Jason D. Jewell began his educational journey in Louisville, Kentucky, where he attended Jefferson County Public Schools. He graduated from Central High School, a historically Black institution and the alma mater of Muhammad Ali. At the University of Louisville, Jewell distinguished himself as both a Martin Luther King Jr. and McConnell Scholar, earning his Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Pursuing his passion for education, Jewell joined Teach For America and moved to Dallas, Texas. At H. Grady Spruce High School, he taught Geography and African American Studies while assisting the Mock Trial team. His commitment to education led him to earn a Master's in Urban Education Leadership from Southern Methodist University. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as a Teacher Leader Intern at Spruce, balancing teaching duties with supporting fellow educators

Jewell's leadership abilities led him to W.W. Samuell High School, where he directed the Early College program. Under his leadership, the program flourished: recruitment reached full capacity with 125 students annually, dual credit opportunities for freshmen and sophomores doubled, and overall enrollment exceeded 400 students. While continuously leading the Early College program, Jewell led the Math and English departments for a year each. His tenure at W.W. Samuell culminated in the graduation of the largest class of associate degree recipients in the school's history. This success led to his selection as Principal Resident at Seagoville High School, where he helped strengthen school-wide systems and enhanced support for Special Education, CCMC, and the English Department.

Outside of education, Jewell enjoys life with his wife Shaleya and their three sons: Braylen, Marshall, and Lincoln. He spends his free time with family, listening to music, watching the Kentucky Wildcats, and enjoying water activities.

Jewell was named Interim Principal at W.A. Blair Elementary in October, now as Principal, he is excited to continue to serve students in Southeast Dallas and Pleasant Grove. His leadership philosophy centers on the belief that all students can achieve extraordinary outcomes when given needed skills and knowledge. Principal Jewell is committed to building strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring high-quality instruction across all classrooms, and fostering an environment that balances high expectations with robust support.
